iCollect

isn’t that a clever title? you know it is.

i’ve been frazzled punkers. just two days to my bahamian vacay and work is in superthrottledeluxe mode so i haven’t had much time to get my social media on. including writing a post. but i did take a picture for y’all.  i’m like the motherfucking giving tree, aren’t i?

people collect shit like stamps, coins, trading cards, star wars action figures, silly bandz, hummels, bunnykins, comics, precious moments, pez dispensers, lunchboxes, tea sets, christmas villages, music boxes, snow globes, ww2 memorabilia, clocks, watches, key chains, advertisements, magazines and salt and pepper shakers.

but i’m a punk so i needed to collect something unconventional. i collect rubber ducks. awesomeness, right? today i’ve brought them out of their natural habitat (the jacuzzi tub in the master bath) and arranged them ever so orderly for your viewing pleasure. does it get anymore benevolent?

click to enlarge. you need to see these BAMFs in their full splendor.

okay so one is a rubber buddha. but how could i resist adding a rubber buddha with coffee and a cellphone to my collection? besides he fits. he’s a budda for christ sake. he fits everywhere cuz he’s all peaceable and pacifisty. poetic license. shutup.

so some i really cherish. like the soccer ball duck (back row left) my daughter, my angel bought for me. she’s a stud goalie so i thought that was tres cute. or the easter egg/bunny/lamb ones (scattered) that i had to hunt for, or the cleopatra one (front row right) that i just got during a trip to the franklin institute in philly to see the cleopatra exhibit, or the chelsea soccer duck (back row center) that mr. punker got me because it’s his favorite team.

what, you think being sappy over rubber ducks is foolish? well, it’s not. it’s cool. and not at all creepy like this:

is it a boy? a girl? a goy? what's with the scary sad eyes?

what do you collect?

I collect magnets with fun sayings like: ‘Gotta Go. The Kids Chewed Through Their Straps.’ And my new favourite: ‘Salad Queen By Day, Junk Food Slut By Night’. They have pictures of 50s women on them. I love them. I like your Ducks too. They are so totally BAMFs.

The only things I collect anymore are empty wine bottles.

However, there is a drawer someplace in upstate NY that houses a very extensive UNICORN stable.

i see your wine bottles and raise you franzia boxes.

Heh. Touche Miss Punker. Yet you avoid the unicorn conundrum. I will gather my army of one horned glitter pooping magical beasts and meet you in a field….*throws down gaunlet after slapping self in the face with a white glove*

I don’t collect anything. I am sad to realize I don’t own a single buddha. That just is not right. I don’t know any lepidopterists and don’t own any buddhas. These are just two things wrong with the universe.

that’s it i’m finding you a buddha on this vacay. and you collect wisdom, whereas i keep losing it.

That could be my kids collection. When I found out that I was pregnant with my first I bought a duck of every color, then I kept getting them for gifts. My favorite would be the “so big my 4 year old can ride it” duck my friend sent me.

    [Reply]

    patty punker Reply:

i collect belgian beer glasses because one can never have enough of those since a glass is bound to get broken after having too many belgian beers. i dig the rubber duckies – very cool variety of styles. the devil ones seem right up your alley and the mummy cracks me up

The ducks are awesome. I have two that sit in my bathroom.

I love collecting all kinds of small things, mostly from the “geek” column: stamps, coins, little glass bottles, little decorative boxes, pretty stones. I had a beach glass collection but I gave it away. Kinda wish I hadn’t.

Yes, my house is a bit full of little things. So?

Have a lovely time in the Bahamas!!!

Ducks? Okay. I see. One needs to retreat to something comfortable in these trying times, like… ducks.

Regarding that scary clown… I think you found the one precious moments item that my mom didn’t have. She had bookcases full of them. Crazy.

I just collect hubcaps. Well, I used to. Yes, very stereotypical for a dude. Thanks

I can’t believe I’m the first asshole to warn you off of that second picture that contains a pseudo-clown precious moment figurine.
My best friends mom collected every precious moment statue that ever exsisted and they came alive at night, crawled out of the glass case and repeated their slogans in your ear until you were screaming and crying.
Make sure one doesn’t crawl into your suitcase and stow away to Atlantis because people will die.

    @One of The Guys

Umm, what’s wrong with collecting boy toys? Not that I have any. At the moment. But if I did, would that be so wrong? I mean, I’ll feed them and all.

I used to collect pin badges and keyrings when I was an adolescent… and that wasn’t yesterday… some of them are still lurking around in a box though.

Then I started collecting dragon figurines.. but they’re really expensive, and since I’m now a SAHM with 2 kids to drain my finances, I don’t really collect anything. I did manage to get one dragon for free though, when I married my OH.. the old dragon came as part of the deal.. Gotta love the outlaws. :P
